The right sports bra is the single most important element of exercise for large-busted women — without proper support, high-impact exercise is uncomfortable, ineffective, and contributes to long-term Cooper's ligament stretching and ptosis (sagging). The key distinction: compression sports bras (which press all breast tissue flat against the chest) provide poor support for large busts because the sheer volume makes adequate compression impossible without excessive tightness. Encapsulation sports bras (which have individual cups for each breast, like an underwired bra) provide significantly better support for D+ cups. Combination styles exist — some use both approaches.

Sports Bra Brands for Large Busts

Panache Sports is widely considered the gold standard for large-bust sports bras — excellent support, well-constructed cups, available in DD–HH+ cup sizes. Freya Active produces good encapsulation sports bras in a wide cup range. Anita Active has excellent support-focused sports bras. Shock Absorber makes the B5044 which is frequently recommended for DD–K cups. These brands are available through specialist lingerie retailers and online direct.

Exercise Modifications and Recommendations

Large-busted women generally benefit from: lower-impact cardio options (cycling, swimming, walking, rowing, elliptical) for everyday cardio rather than high-impact running; strength training with attention to chest loading (heavy chest press compounds breast tissue loading; upper back and posture work provides significant overall benefit); and core work for trunk stability that supports the spine under the load of a large bust. Post-augmentation, there are specific restrictions (see Recovery Guide) — upper body loading is restricted for 6 weeks post-surgery.
