The Swimwear Fit Problem
Swimwear for large busts is notoriously difficult to find in mainstream retailers. Standard swimwear is sized to accommodate small cup volumes — even "large" sizes in mainstream brands often have cups that are too small and bands too loose for DD+ figures. The result is cups that overflow, straps that dig, and swimwear that requires constant adjustment. Several specialist brands have emerged to address this gap, and understanding what to look for makes a significant difference.
Styles That Work
Underwire bikini tops with proper cup construction provide the best support and shape for most large busts. Look for styles with wide straps, full cups, and underwire that sits flat under the bust rather than on the breast tissue. Halter tops can work well if straps are wide and the cups are properly sized — thin spaghetti strap halters are not suitable for large busts as all the weight loads through two thin straps. One-piece swimsuits with internal underwire and cup sizing are excellent for support and can be very flattering. Tankini tops provide more coverage and some additional torso support.
Specialist Brands
Freya and Fantasie produce excellent underwired swimwear in extended cup sizes (up to approximately K cup). Curvy Kate focuses specifically on DD–KK sizing with fashion-forward styles. Anita and Triumph produce high-support swimwear in large cup sizes. For augmented figures, particularly very large implants, custom swimwear makers are often the best option — standard sizing systems may not accommodate both the cup volume and the band measurement simultaneously.
